My true foundation shade is nearly Mac NC15, but often I am wearing tan so at my darkest this is more of an NC25-NC30, as well as all the shades in between as tan fades away. So the idea of a product that adjust the colour of the foundation you already have? Brilliant!!
These are from The Body Shop and are available in ‘Lightening’ and ‘Darkening’. I will be chatting about the Lightening ones today. They are sold at £10, but this will last you such a long, long time as you only need a couple of drops.
They smell lovely, of course you won’t notice this one you are wearing the foundation but a pleasant scent to a product is always good! They are a sort of half-way consistency, not too thick but not too runny, meaning that I haven’t yet found a foundation that it doesn’t mix well with.
The aim of the product is to allow you to mix it with your foundation, one drop for one shade lighter, to get it to the correct shade for you. It’s a fab concept and one that I haven’t seen before from UK brands.
The drops are almost pure white as they come out, if you look really closely they seem to have a slight pink tint too them but so far the pink tone hasn’t affected the colour of my foundations at all.
The only issue I have with this product is the packaging – the dropper isn’t very good, so I find myself just dotting the dropper on to the back of my hand rather than actually squeezing drops out. Not a big issue really! But still worth keeping in mind, maybe its just that mine is a bit faulty!
So do they lightening drops work? Yes! I find them really useful when my tan is fading and I am between shades as well as if I buy a foundation that is too dark for my natural skin. It doesn’t really alter the consistency of my foundations too much so it has come in really handy.
I would recommend these if you ever find yourself mixing shades or buying multiple shades of the same foundation just to match your changing tone! A clever little product.
