Hair oils are brilliant for boosting hydration in your hair. I have two favourites that I like to use, the coconut oil Hydrating Oil Mist from OGX and the Dry Remedy Oil from Aveda so I wanted to share a review of both of them today.
A little info on my hair – I have pretty much waist length hair. Its completely straight natually – I’d say my hair is quite fine but I have lots of it. It needs washing every other day but the ends can get dry as it is just so long! Aside from curling my hair once every couple of months, the only heat I use on my hair is the hair dryer. Hope all that helps so you know the sort of hair I am working with!
This is the OGX Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist. It retails at around £7 so it is quite an affordable product for how much you get! This one has a spray which I really like, as you can either spray into your hands and work through the hair or spray directly onto your hair which is handy. It also comes in a plastic bottle which is really travel friendly as you don’t risk oil spills!
This one I love to use for the appearance of my hair – I apply to the ends and lengths of my hair and let it boost shine and moisture! It is really lightweight, it feels more like a dry oil than a really liquid one, if that makes any sense?
It smells of coconuts as you can guess by the product name! But I haven’t had this one very long so I don’t know how long the scent would last.
This one is my all-time favourite hair oil! It is the Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oil. You get less product in this one but it lasts for SUCH a long time, one bottle lasts me for months and months. It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper that you shake the oil out of. I would be a little worried about travelling with this one, I’d want to wrap it in some fluffly socks to make sure it wouldnt break!
This one feels more of a thick oil so it feels even more moisturising. I have two favourite ways to use this one. I put dry shampoo on my hair before I go to sleep so I wake up with fresh hair (try it, such a handy technique!) but it can be quite drying to the lengths of your hair. To combat this, I like to apply a couple of drops of Dry Remedy Oil to the lengths and ends to wake up with fresh and hydrated hair!
The second way I like to use this is as a sort of hair mask (or is it spelled ‘masque’?!) If I know I will be washing my hair the next morning, I use plenty of the oil worked though my hair and let it sink in and moisturise as y9ou would with a leave in hair mask! You can also use this oil for scalp massages which are said to boost hair growth.
Overall, these are both brilliant hair oils! My favourite is the Aveda Dry Remedy Oil but I’m really enjoying switching up to the OGX Coconut Oil too. Please let me know any hair products you are loving at the moment!
