I haven’t spoken about primers much before on my blog, so today I wanted to do a round-up of my three favourite primers I have tried.
I have to admit, primer isn’t a beauty product I am very adventurous with so there wasn’t hundreds that I’ve tried to choose from! I think it is because you can’t see primer, so I’m hesitant to splash out on expensive ones.
But of all the ones I have tried, these three have been my favourites- all of them are products I will repurchase again and again.
First is the W7 Prime Magic Face Primer. I first bought a tube of this at the Clothes Show Live a few years ago, I knew by looking at it that it was a dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. Amazon is probably the most accessible place for everyone to find this primer so I’ve linked it here.
This one is lovely for smoothing out skin. It stops your pores showing beneath foundation and this is why it is one of my favourites. It is clear, with quite a thick silicone type texture so you can see why it is good for an even base for foundation.
I use this one under the foundations that I know don’t sit quite right on my skin. Some foundations do accentuate your pores, so it is really handy to have this primer around target that! I do only use it in the areas I need it though. For such an affordable price, this one does the job brilliantly.
This is one of my favourite makeup products at the moment! This is the Loreal Lumi Magique Primer, I got mine from Boots here.
This one is more thin in consistency, it just glides over your skin. It leaves your skin with the most beautiful, glow. I love that this isn’t full of glitter, it is a lovely, subtle sheen. I love using this with foundations that are slightly drying or more matte on the skin, to stop my skin looking too flat.
I also like using this one as a highlight on my skin! With a small brush or my hands, I tap a little on top of my foundation on my cheek bones and cupids bow, to give a really natural liquid highlight.
Finally, the Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm! Not technically a primer I know, but I’m sure most people have heard about how great this is at keeping your makeup on. This is available in plenty of places, but I got mine from Boots here.
This has a high glycerin content in it which keeps your makeup on! It is a very thin, liquid formula which just glides onto your skin. It sinks in very easily and leaves a slightly tacky feel on the skin, so you really feel your makeup adhere to this one.

Will definitely have to try the Nivea product! Sounds interestjng

Too bad two out of the three primers you mentioned aren’t available in Dubai so I’ll be sure to get my hands on the Nivea one x

Ah thank you so much, you are very welcome 🙂 they are all really affordable so definitely worth a try 🙂 xxxx
Banila Co, a Korean brand, makes a lovely primer. Though it doesn’t do much for mattifying, it does help keep my makeup on a bit longer!
