Travel: Edinburgh In December

Last year my boyfriend and I took a flight up to Edinburgh, for a festive city break for the weekend! Edinburgh is my favourite city in the UK, it just has so much personality and there is something to look at around every corner!

It isn’t too busy, which is perfect for me, yet still feels bustling enough and full of life. I love the mix of modern parts and the old buildings with amazing structures!

I know these photos are a year old now, and I definitely didn’t know what I was doing with the camera haha! But I wanted to share them, as they feel really festive and I want to remember each of our December trips.

The Edinburgh Christmas Markets are so pretty! Everything you could ask from a festive market, delicious food, decorations, rides and so on! We got some lovely warm, sugar ring donuts which were so needed – the weather was absolutely awful!

I’ve been to Edinburgh before but never right before Christmas, so I absolutely loved seeing all the decorations and trees up everywhere! This was outside The Dome, I wish we had gone inside to explore!

My boyfriend took this photo of me and it makes me laugh because of my earmuffs! I can honestly say I have never been as cold in my life as I was that weekend, it was completely freezing mixed with strong winds and rain, so so chilly. I had to go into a Primark and buy earmuffs, gloves, fur-lined leggings and more fluffy socks! It was the sort of cold weather where breathing in makes your insides cold, know what I mean?

This was the Christmas tree up in the Jenner’s Department store! How beautiful is that? I normally love trees that have all sorts of baubles and decorations, but the simple effect of the lights looks absolutely gorgeous!

We were so excited to visit Edinburgh Zoo, as they have giant pandas there! Anyway, we took a bus to get there and the weather turned really nasty, but we carried on anyway as we had payed for admission so started looking around the zoo! But within about 15 or 20 minutes of being there, they had to close the zoo as the weather conditions had become too bad to have guests at the zoo!

We had to laugh really, but it was such a shame we didn’t get to look around properly, but we can save that for our next trip there.

This is a photo from a rare sunny moment! We had a few hours of beautiful, crisp, cold sunshine so we took a few photos of the castle, which is amazing.

So those are all the photos I have from the trip! We had such a lovely trip, with so much delicious food. We even went to Zizi’s twice in one day haha, such pizza addicts!

If you ever get the chance to visit Edinburgh, please do as it is such a beautiful, unique city that I truly love, I can’t wait for our next trip back there.

Edinburgh is such a beautiful city! I also love the mix of old and new, it gives it a really nice contrast! I wish I could have visited at Christmas time as it sounds like the most perfect place at this time of year 💕 I went in February for Valentine’s Day and it was freezing cold as well! We actually had a sprinkle of snow at one point in the day! Your photos are absolutely lovely! xx
