Whether it is with work, family or friends, most of us have some sort of Christmas party to go to! My guilty secret is that getting ready for these things is my absolute favourite part!
I love setting aside lots of time to get ready so I can take my time and I won’t be rushed if I end up getting distracted by listening to Christmas party songs as I go!
For base, I like to go for something with a full coverage that I know will last all night – for me that is the MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I love to use this with an illuminating primer as it is quite heavy, but that is what makes it so good for parties.
For concealer, I usually choose something quite highlighting. Recently I have been liking the Barry M Light Reflecting Flawless Concealer as it has a very natural highlight to it. It isn’t particularly full coverage, but I find the foundation does most of the covering work for me.
I feel like evening parties mean I can wear that little bit more makeup, so I go in with some cream contour. This is the LA Girl Pro Concealer in the shade ‘Toast’. I use this in the hollows of my cheek bones, around the outside of my face and forehead, a little down each side of my nose and a tiny bit under my bottom lip. And I really do mean a little bit – this is quite a dark shade so I have to go steady!
Finally, I love the ELF palette in ‘St Lucia’ for a lovely pretty pink, shimmery blush which acts like a highlighter with gold, gently shimmer in it. The bronzer here is amazing too, I love this to bronze up my face, again it has a very subtle shimmer that makes your skin look so healthy and glowing.
On to brows, this is the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade as always! On me, this stays put for hours and hours and always gives a brilliant finish to my brows.
If I am going to wear a red lip, I tend to keep it a bit more simple on the eyes so it doesn’t get too much! A great shadow that does all the work for you is MAC’s Woodwinked. A lovely, bronze, gold shade that looks amazing all over the lid and blended into the crease too.
For eyeliner, my favourite at the moment is the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. It is so easy to use, you literally just draw on your liner as if you were using a pen – and this one is really pigmented and black.
Then I apply plenty of mascara! The L’oreal Telescopic one is super dramatic and volumizing so I add a couple of layers of this to the top and bottom lashes. Then I like to add a pair of lashes too, because they add so much to a makeup look!
For lips, I always go for a red lip at a Christmas party! The one in the photo is the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Immortal’ (full review here) I’ve written a post all about My Favourite Red Lipsticks For Christmas, head over to see my top pics!
