Favourite Winter Foundations

Today I am sharing my favourite foundations to wear in the winter. There is real mix of foundations here, some are complete opposites but it all depends on the look I am going for.

I am more likely to wear a more full base in winter, I much prefer it that way for some reason. I’ll generally either wear no makeup at all, or a full face with quite a lot of coverage, I’m going for either one extreme or the other at the moment!

The one I have been reaching for the most at the moment is the MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I have mine in the shade NC15 – even that is a little dark for my natural skin tone (I really am pale!) so whenever I’m not wearing any fake tan, this is the one I go for.

It has full coverage, and when used with a luminous primer, it gives the most beautiful finish that I don’t need to set with powder, but will always last all day. For that reason, I almost always use this when I go to work.

My favourite way to apply is using a buffing brush to really work this in to my skin. This is the most pigmented foundation I own, I generally skip concealer when I use this as it seems to cover any dark circles. I have a separate full review on this up on my blog already if you’d like to read more – although it is a very old post haha!

For my all-time favourite, every day base, I love the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. I have mine in the shade 52, Vanilla which is great for when I have natural fake tan on. I love the undertone of this, it makes you look super healthy, and is quite yellow based, perfect for counteracting any redness.

It has the most natural, slightly glowy finish to it that looks beautiful on the skin. I don’t find this one quite as long lasting, I tend to use the Nivea After Shave Balm as a primer with this one, which ensures it will stay put all day.

I love this one for winter as it just gives a lovely, ‘healthy’ look to the skin, nothing like the dull, winter skin you would imagine. I usually apply this with my beauty blender to give a good, even base.

Finally, I have been loving the Loreal Lumi Magique Foundation in the shade W3 Gold Linen. This is my favourite, glowy foundation with good coverage for when I am wearing fake tan. It just reminds me of summer! Whenever this one is too dark, I add some of The Body Shop Lightening Drops to it. I also mix this one in with the other two foundations, to give them a bronzed glow.

This one gives your skin a beautiful sheen without being shiny looking and without any shimmer which I just love. It sits well on my skin, especially with a smoothing primer underneath. I tend to apply this one either with my Morphe E6 brush, any buffing brush or a beauty sponge – it goes on well any way really.

So that is everything, those were my favourite foundations for the winter time. What are your favourite winter foundations? Please let me know, I’d love to try some new ones!

Is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation a drug store foundation? Or one I can find at a target, walmart, etc?

Here it is drugstore, you can get in boots and Superdrug! But I’m not sure where you can find it in the US, maybe worth having a look online? It’s cost me around £10 so not too expensive 🙂 xxx
