Everyday Makeup Routine: January 2017

SONY DSC

Today I am sharing my current everyday makeup routine in January! I actually haven’t been wearing makeup very much recently, as I have been using January as a sort of detox for my skin. Basically that means giving it a break from the heavier makeup I wore in December.

But when I have been wanting to make myself up, these are the products I am reaching for! I keep it relatively simple, with an even base, tiny bit of eye shadow, brows, mascara, and a lip colour if I want to make it a bit more exciting. I like things simple.

For foundation, I have been reaching for my EX1 Invisiwear foundation. I have mine in the shades 2.0 (new colour system) and F100 (old colour system) which I switch between depending on whether I am wearing fake tan or not!

I love this foundation for a fuss-free base that lasts and looks super in pictures too. I have a full review on this foundation up on my blog already, where I raved all about it!

For concealer, I have been using the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, in the lightest shade! I love this so much, it has the perfect undertone – not too pink! I find it hard to find high street concealers that aren’t too pink toned.

This has really full coverage without being overly thick or drying. I use this one on my face to conceal  as well as under my eyes to hide any dark circles! It has great lasting power, so I never need to worry about topping it up throughout the day.

As alwaaaays, it has to be the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you will know this is my all-time favourite brow product, honestly, I can’t rave about it enough!

I adore this, it has the perfect colour, it is easy to apply and literally lasts as long as you need it too. It can be applied really naturally, like little brow hairs, or thicker for a more defined look, whatever you feel like!

Just to add a bit of definition to my eyes, I love this single eye shadow from natural collection. It is in the colour ‘Milk Chocolate’, I included this in my Favourite Single Eyeshadow blog post, because it really is a favourite!

It is a gorgeous, mid-tone brown shade that looks so pretty blended into the crease and across the lid, a gorgeous, neutral shade. There is a swatch photo later on in this post!

I have been loving wearing mascara on my top lashes only, as it gives a much more ‘awake’ look to my eyes! I have been using the L’oreal Telescopic mascara, it has a brilliant formula and wand, which coats every lash.

Two layers of this and you have the most fluttery lashes ever! It isn’t too soft on the lashes, it really holds a curl, yet it doesn’t flake like some mascaras I have tried. I always try to make sure I have one of these in my makeup collection!

For a lip shade, I have been really liking the MeNow Liquid Lipstick in the shade 18. It is a beautiful, pink-mauve shade that is really pretty. I have a full blog post of MeNow Liquid Lipstick Review which I chatted more in-depth about it in.

It lasts pretty well, I mean, for 99p, I really don’t mind topping this one up! I haven’t found a good alternative to this colour from another brand yet, and I am loving the colour, so happy with this one for now!

The swatch on the left is the Milk Chocolate eye shadow from Natural Collection, then on the right is the MeNow Liquid Lipstick shade! Just thought I would include these so you can have an idea of the colours.

So that has been everything I have been wearing on my face recently! I haven’t been worrying too much about bronzer, highlight etc, as I have been keeping it really simple. What have your favourite products been of this month so far? xx

Oh that telescopic mascara is such an oldie but goodie. I haven’t used it in so long but for a while it was my go-to drug store mascara! I can’t believe I forgot about it!!! I love the idea of less make up for this month, I’m also trying to keep it to a minimum and not where it on most days; all natural is my favorite way to go!

I totally agree, a colleague gave it to me as an Xmas pressie and I’ve been using it every day, forgot how much I loved it!! Yeah it’s nice to be a bit more minimal this time of year, and nothing beats the feeling of no makeup on your face! Xxx

I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about the Telescopic mascara, it makes me want to try it out myself! Also, love the lip color. 😍

Yeah it is really nice! Before I used it, I’d never used a mascara wand like it before – now it is my favourite! Thank you, it’s a lovely pink shade! Xx

I’ve been hearing so much about that ABH pomade; however, I’m pretty much set in my ways, brow-wise. I use L’Oreal Brow Artist gel + powder combo, and it works for me!

    • January 19, 2017 / 4:57 pm

Yeah, I have to admit I’m stuck in my ways with the pomade, I feel like when you find something you love with brows, you stick with it! I think I’m going to have to try the L’OrΓ©al gel though xx
