Nivea Post Shave Balm: Primer Review

The Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm has been one of my favourite primers for over a year now. Whenever I need my makeup to last, I reach for this one.

You have probably heard all about this before! I first heard of it when I watched Nikki Tutorials video where she talked about using this as a primer. That same day, I tried it out myself, and I have been using it ever since.

So, this was made as a men’s post shaving balm but due to its high glycerin content, it makes it ideal as a primer for long lasting makeup. This costs around £5 and is pretty easy to get hold of!

This has a very thin consistency, I like to apply about a 5p sized amount to my skin to prime my whole face. I actually just smooth this over my skin then pat it in, rather than rubbing it in. It goes sort of tacky on your skin, then I just apply my foundation.

It is the most effective primer I have tried in terms of making my makeup last as long as I need it to. I love it! However, I have read some reviews that some people had some issues when using this too often with clogged skin etc. I haven’t had any problems with it at all but it is worth baring in mind if you have sensitive skin.

A bottle of this lasts forever and ever! You really do need only a tiny amount so a bottle this size will last for so long. So overall, I’d say if you need your makeup to last, it is definitely worth trying this one!

What are your favourite primers? Please let me know! Xx

I love this because it’s so thin and I hate the silicony feeling you get with most primers x

I agree completely! It doesn’t feel like a thick extra layer on my skin! X

I recently tried this as well, it’s basically like glue with makeup (in a good way)! I wouldn’t use it every day but for a long day or a night out it’s perfect 🙂

I don’t think this will work for me as I have very oily skin and need something that can withstand it! But I’m glad that there are affordable “primer” options for others 🙂

Aah that makes sense, yeah I don’t think this would have the best oil control as it wasn’t even made to be a primer! Aw yeah it’s good isn’t it 🙂 x

Thats so crazy, I would never have thought you use post shave balm as a primer, how clever and it actually makes perfect sense! Wow, just learned something new today 🙂
