30 Hygge-Inspired Ideas

SONY DSC

Hygge is the Danish idea about coziness and enjoying the simple, little things in life. I only found out about the concept a few months ago, but without realizing, I live in a very hygge way! I love to be at home, with candles lit and a fire. I love reading, being cosy and anything that makes me feel relaxed! I just didn’t have a name for it before, so calling it hygge feels nice.

I think taking time to appreciate the simple things is really important, so I have listed 30 of my favourite things to do that are ‘Hygge’-inspired!

  1. Take a bubble bath, use a bath bomb too
  2. Cover your room in fairy lights
  3. Have a games night with your friends or other half
  4. Doodle in a notebook
  5. Light a room with your favourite candles
  6. Burn an insense stick for a homely, warm scent.
  7. Declutter your digital life
  8. Build a fort with duvets and blankets
  9. Spend a day without going on your phone
  10. Take an hour to read a book
  11. Add new texture like scatter cushions
  12. Try a warming drink
  13. Buy a new cosy throw
  14. Bake a cake
  15. Light fire/log burner
  16. Have friend round and cook a meal for them
  17. Try knitting or sewing
  18. Have an at-home spa night for yourself
  19. Write someone an actual letter
  20. Go for a wintery walk with a scarf and bobble hat
  21. Make your own hot chocolate from scratch
  22. Have a lazy, late brunch
  23. Listen to your old favourite songs
  24. Wear some comfy new pyjymas
  25. Try an adult colouring book
  26. Bake a loaf of bread and eat with jam
  27. Invite your family to spend the evening with you
  28. Think about being grateful
  29. Listen to songs on a record player
  30. Watch your favourite old film under a duvet

So those are my 30 hygge, cosy ideas of ways to spend your free time! I hope you enjoyed reading this or that it might have inspired you to take some time to yourself to relax. What are your thoughts on the hygge lifestyle? Favourite ways to relax? xx

Hygge is such a lovely concept and, like you, I didn’t realise that I was living my life like this anyway before finding out about it! All of these are lovely ideas ☺️ A pamper spa night at home is sounds so lovely, especially as it’s in the comfort of your own home and you don’t even have to leave the house for it! 🙊 xxx
