I have a ‘Battle Of The Bronzers’ post today! I have focused in on high-street/drugstore bronzers, as this could be a bit of a long post otherwise. I actually love finding brilliant products for more purse-friendly prices. Today I am comparing all these bronzers (some are part of blush or highlight kits too) and deciding which are my favourites. I reach for all of these regularly, so I thought it would be interesting to see which ones come out on top.
I’ve included swatches of all of the shades at the bottom of the post!
This is a brilliant little kit, with a matte bronzer (plus a matte highlight). It has a lovely smooth texture, and applies beautifully. I like this one when I have a little more of a tan, as it has quite a lot of warmth to it – probably not idea for really pale skin tones. This is called a contour shade, but as it is so warm, I use this one as a bronzer. At £6, I’d say that is pretty good value, especially as you get a bronzer too.
Overall I’d have to give this one a 6 out of 10. I love the formula, but it can be a little orange toned on my skin. A lighter shade would be perfect!
This may be my favourite bronzer ever. It has a lovely silky formula, and the shade range is brilliant, particularly for pale skin – the colour 01 is such a gorgeous, not-too-warm toned colour for lighter skin tones. I absolutely love it. You can build this up for a deeper colour too. It retails at around £14 which is definitely the highest price in this collection, but it is so worth it, plus the Body Shop have so many great discounts and offers to use.
I have to give this one 10/10, no doubt about it!
NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny
This is an old favourite for me, probably one of the first bronzers I ever bought! This is so affordable! I think it used to cost around £3. But when I was looking for a link for you all, I couldn’t find one! I feel worried that is may have been discontinued, but I know you can still find it on Amazon. This is really warm toned, but it has just the right undertone to avoid the orange look. It bronzes up your face as if you had been naturally sun-kissed.
This one gets a 7/10. I have loved this one for such a long time, especially in the summer months for a healthy glow!
ELF Contour & Blush Palette in St Lucia
Again, another palette I have loved for years. When I first bought this, everyone was saying it was a dupe for Nars Orgasm Blush and Laguna Bronzer. Being honest, the kit probably isn’t a dupe, but they are both super pretty shades in their own right. The bronzer is quite dark on the skin, and has a slight shimmer running through it, helping give you the glow. I don’t find it the smoothest to apply though. I tend to use this in summer or when I am self-tanned. It costs £4.50, good value.
This one gets a 6/10. As a palette in general, I do love it, but I think it is just a little too muddy looking on my very pale skin.
This is another old favourite for me! For £10, you get 3 brilliant products in one – a beautiful rose gold blush, a pretty highlight and a lovely matte bronzer/contour shade. This seems to have just the right undertone, not too warm but not ashy looking. For me, that is a pretty idea mixture for bronzing. I believe they have come out with an even paler shade called ‘Fair’ which I may have to try too!
This one gets an 9/10! Great value with amazing quality – Sleek are a brilliant high street brand.
MUA Pressed Powder in 03
Technically this is a cheat product as it isn’t strictly a bronzer but a face powder. But as you can see from the swatch below, it is an ideal shade to warm up my skin! I mean, this is a trick you can do with any brand. This powder in £1! The most budget friendly option here, so if you want a quick bronzing fix, this your best bet – plus it is really smooth to apply.
This one gets a 7/10. For value for money though, this product has to win by a mile!
The winner has to be The Body Shop Honey Bronzer but very closely followed by the Sleek Face Form palette! Honestly though, all of these are great bronzing options if you want to save yourself some money.
