Recently I picked up the Kiko Water Eyeshadow in the colour ‘208 Light Gold’! I kept hearing amazing things about these eyeshadows, especially that this shade was an amazing highlighter shade so I decided to treat myself. It was pretty inexpensive at around £8 so a perfect hightstreet price!
So the original idea for using this product is as a wet-to-dry eyeshadow – to be applied with a dry brush or with a damp one for a really intense sheen on the eyes. I love multi-use products like this. Of course, there is another amazing use for this and that is as a highlighter! Sweeping this across your cheekbones, brow bone and cupid’s bow just looks incredibly pretty.
I’m obsessed with the gorgeous packaging. It comes with a mirror and the eyeshadow itself is in a beautiful, swirled design (which almost reminds me of a thumb-print!). In terms of the formula, this is brilliant. It has a buttery, creamy formula that has amazing colour pay off – seriously, it looks like actual gold in the form of an eyeshadow, I love it!
I have swatched the colours here on my hand – the left is with water and the second is the colour when used dry. As you can see, it is a super pretty, rose-gold champagne toned colour that really brings extra dimension to your skin and adds as much glow as you want! I do use this without a tan too, but I do prefer this on my skin when I have more of a tan, as it looks so lovely and summery. In the swatch, you can see it against my natural skin colour, about an NC15 in MAC for reference.
My all-time favourite makeup look to wear this with is a matte but bronzed base, with some bronzer blended through the crease of my eye. Then I appy the KIKO eyeshadow wet to my eyelid for a golden glow, then sweep the same shadow as a highlight over my cheekbones and any high points of the face. I love it – a look like this looks beautifully pulled-together because you use the same shade throughout as a multi-use product.
For only £8, this is one of my favourite high-street finds recently. You can use it wet or dry, as an eyeshadow or as a highlight, making it so versatile. If you like champagne, gold toned shades, you’ll definitely want to add this to your collection!
