I have a new favourite book. A little while ago I bought the Do/Breathe Book by Michael Townsend Williams and I just have to share it! I mean, even the look of the book drew me in, with the calming blue paint marks. The title ‘Calm your mind. Find focus. Get stuff done.’ sounds like something all of us could benefit from.
The Do Book series have all sorts, from bee-keeping to finding purpose. Each of them are little guides by different authors so each one feels slightly different. The focus of this one is breathing, which appealed to me straight away. I am such a shallow breather, I have to consciously make the effort to breathe deeply and calm down. When you think about it, breathing is something we all do more than anything else yet we barely give it a second thought.
This book is the best little guide. It has advice, tips and techniques for a more organised, more peaceful life. Michael Townsend gives processes for proper deep breathing, but also getting things done, organising your life and planning what needs to get done. Even if you don’t follow his advice exactly, I guarantee that this little book will get you motivated, whether that is to breathe better or make a list of all the things you need to do today. If you need to regroup and bring calmness back to your life, this is the best little book to have with you to guide you along the way. I love that you can dip in and out of it, depending what you need from it or how much time you have.
I can’t wait to read more of the Do Books. Please leave me any recommendations of self-improvement books in the comments as I love reading new ones!
