I love finding new series to watch, it is so satisfying when you find something to watch that you instantly love! Some are super addictive, others I like to watch now and again. Today I am sharing some of my favourite that you can watch on Netflix. Some are pretty popular so you may have already heard of them, but usually if a show is that popular, it is worth a watch!
If you haven’t seen Prison Break, where have you been?? This show came out years ago, but I watched it for the first time about 2 years ago and LOVED it. It is one of the only series that my family and I all watch together, it is genuinely amazing. As you can probably guess from the title, it revolves around a prison break, but the sub-plots and character stories are all brilliant. I love that all the characters are so realistic – each has a blend of good and bad traits that you might relate to. The acting is great and this is definitely a show to get you hooked. There are probably around 100 episodes altogether, and the latest series is currently being shown on TV. So good.
I feel like not so many people have tried Peaky Blinders, but it is one of my favourites that I watched from the past year or so. The plot revolves around a gang called the Peaky Blinders, in Birmingham around 1920, led by Thomas Shelby. I love the set and the music to go with this show – it feels like a blend of modern themes yet still feels really authentic. It can be graphic at time but nothing too gory. I just feel as though this series is really refreshing – its something a bit different. My boyfriend and I watched all the episodes on Netflix over about 2 weeks and then had to buy the box set to carry it on!
Another one that you can watch elsewhere too, but that fact that it is currently on Netflix means I watch it all the time! This is hilarious. Honestly, if you just want a laugh, give Cuckoo a try. It is basically about a family whose daughter gets married whilst travelling to an unusual guy called Cuckoo. For me though, Greg Davies makes this so funny. He is one of those actors whose humour just makes me laugh (he also plays the Headteacher from Inbetweeners) and his wife on-screen is played by Helen Baxendale who I really like too (she played Emily in Friends!)
Pretty Little Liars.
This is one of those shows that you watch non-stop! It is a mystery style show that follows the disappearance of one girl from a group of teenage friends. The story spirals, gets dark and complicated but it is definitely worth a watch. I started watching this about 2 years ago and watched every episode that was on Netflix constantly over just a few weeks. It is definitely addictive – but I also loved looking at the outfits and makeup of the characters too just for fun. I haven’t actually re-watched this since, but it is amazing. If you want to get addicted to a show, this is the one for you!
This is my favourite Netflix Original series ever. The story is unique but fits with some of the other films I love set in a similar era (E.T., The Goonies etc.). The story is set around a boy who goes missing, and at the same time, a mysterious girl called Eleven appears. The casting is brilliant, the acting is amazing, especially Millie Bobbie Brown. Winona Rider is great in this too. It is like an 80’s style, sci-fi fantasy show that you just have to watch all the way through, so gripping with amazing effects.
