One of my favourite beauty products to try out is foundation. I don’t wear it every day, but I love discovering new base products – a good foundation can make or break your makeup look. I’ve put together three that are definitely worth trying, with a mix of high-street and high-end.
My skin type.
My skin can range from normal to very dry. At the moment, it is pretty normal which is great. Sometimes though, it is completely lacking in moisture! So when it comes to base products, I like something I can wear as my skin changes. In terms of colour, I have a variety of shades as I sometimes use self-tan. If you are looking for paler foundations, I put together a little guide of some of my favourite foundations for pale skin!
First up is the LA Girl Pro Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Foundation. Apart from having the longest product name ever, this is an absolutely amazing foundation! This costs around £10 and is one of the best high-street foundations I have ever used. It has medium coverage that you can build up. The finish is a dewey – you can leave it bare for a real glow! But powdered down, you get a radiant, healthy finish. It isn’t oily looking though, and for those who don’t like the glowing look, simply pair with a mattifying primer and powder.
I have mine in the shade ‘Fair’, which in all honesty, is not very pale. Despite the name, it is a perfect shade for a light layer of self-tan for me! They also have a white foundation in this range, so you can mix it in to lighten the shades. I raved all about this in a full review post. (Also, while we are talking about LA Girl, the Pro Concealer is perfect for contouring if you buy a darker shade!)
I had to include the Nars Sheer Glow foundation! I feel like this is one of those products you simply have to try, due to it’s cult status and loyal following! On my skin, this is a creamy, satin finish. My favourite way to apply this foundation is with a sponge to really work it into the skin. I have to mention that on me, this is one of those foundations where you can tell I’m wearing makeup – but if you don’t mind this, it is a really wonderful foundation.
I have mine in the colour ‘Deauville / Light 4’ which yellow-toned and a great shade for me with a layer of gradual tan. This is a holy grail favourite for so many people – if you try one of these foundations, make it this one!
Finally, the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. This was the first foundation I ever tried, I just walked into Superdrug and chose one. But six years later, this is still one of my favourites! It is described as a ‘light perfecting radiance foundation’ which is spot on. Providing a natural base, I’d imagine would suit most skin types. This one gives a medium coverage that sits beautifully on the skin.
The shade I used when I am tanned is the ‘200, Soft Beige’. I also love the colour ‘Ivory’ to match my natural skin tone. If you are just starting out with makeup, this is great for an even complexion and a healthy finish.

Ahhh I would love to try the Nars and LA Girl foundations, they sound amazing! My favourite so far is the Max Factor Facefinity but I am switching to Too Faced’s Born this Way as it is quite similar for me formula wise, just cruelty free! 😀 xx

Ooh sounds amazing – I think I might have to try the Too Faced one! xx
I love love the La girl foundations. It looks so awesome on the skin and lasts well and just is a brilliant foundation at a bargain price! I wasn’t a massive fan of the Nars sheer glow foundation, it was okay but it didn’t sit on my skin well.
