High street or luxury, I love trying out new makeup. I have favourites from both ends of the spectrum – some high end beauty products really are worth the price. On the flipside, you don’t always get what you pay for, and sometimes you can find real gems for a fraction of the price. Today I wanted to focus on some of my favourite, affordable makeup products.
Max Factor Face Finity 3 in 1 Foundation
This is a new one to my collection. I raved all about it my post on the best foundations for flawless skin. Retailing at around £11, it is more than half of the price of most luxury foundations. Despite this, it applies, wears and looks like it should be an expenive product! With a natural finish and good pigmentation, it has great coverage. It doesn’t dry my skin out, nor makes it look oily – just right. I have the colour ‘Golden 75’ which matches my fake tan perfectly. If you are on the hunt for a new budget foundation, the All Day Flawless is one to try.
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer
Another discovery I made this year! Honestly, I think this is my all-time favourite concealer. Bourjois have got base products spot on already, but this one steals the show for me. The Radiance Reveal concealer is so comfortable to wear, leaving an almost luminous look to the skin. For that reason alone, it is my favourite to use under my eyes. The undertones are just right, the only gripe is that the shade range doesn’t cater for all skin tones. I was worried this wouldn’t last through the day, being a radiant concealer. How wrong was I? This concealer has it all, with good lasting power too. It truly feels like a luxury product, you wouldn’t guess it is from the high street.
Maybelline Lash Sensational
Mascara has always been my favourite makeup product – I think it makes the most difference for me. I think the amount of love I have for the Lash Sensational mascara is evident by the amount of tubes I’ve gone through! It lives up to it’s ‘lash-multiplying’ claims. There are a few colours, including Intense Black which is really handy for a bolder look! It doesn’t budge throughout the day either, so keep in mind you’ll need to remove it carefully. (the Garnier micellar water does it perfectly) My favourite mascara ever! Its a great dupe for the Too Faced Roller Lash mascara – but I’ve tried both and actually prefer this one! High street wins again.
Finally, I have to mention this little eyeshadow. At under £2, the Milk Chocolate eyeshadow from Natural Collection needs to be in your collection! I first tried this a few years ago, and I’ve kept one ever since. If you had to choose one eyeshadow colour to own, you’d want a shade like this. A taupe, mid-toned brown. You can smudge it along your lashline for subtle definition, apply it all over the lid or sweep it into the crease of your eye to make you eyes looks bigger. It also works as a nose contour shade at a pinch. Without a doubt, the best bargain of this post.
So those are my current high street makeup must-haves! Which are your all-time favourites?
