Without a doubt, my favourite seasons are Autumn and Winter. There is nothing I love more than being cosy! I have been quietly waiting for Autumn since it last ended, but now September is here, I want to sing it’s praises again. I’m always careful not to wish the summer away, but I’m ready for frosty mornings and cinnamon scents!
I mean, what could be better? I am a candle hoarder as it is, but when the chilly seasons roll around, I am so ready to burn rich, scented candles. Leaf/forest scents are fresh and warming, but I also love those cinnamon/pumpkin/baking scents for the evenings too. I have a post coming very soon about my favourite candles for the season so keep an eye out for that! My current favourite though, has to be ‘Leaves’ from Bath and Body Works. SO good.
I know not everyone likes dark evenings, but you can’t deny that they feel cosy. Pop on some fairy lights, light a favourite candle and put your favourite film on. Perfect for watching all the good tv that comes on around this time of year! Also, on the rare occasion that I do go for a run, I like running when it is getting dark. Mostly so no-one sees my red face, but a look into my exercise is a whole other blog post.
My favourite weather ever consists of bright sunny days, which have a real nip in the air, feeling chilly and crisp! You can wrap up and hear crunchy, frosty leaves as you walk along. The air always smells better on a day like that. Sometimes, I love a cold, rainy evening to sit inside with a fire and a hot chocolate. Can you tell I’m a homely person?
I LOVE wearing big, snuggly scarves and fluffy jackets. Autumn fashion is just the best. Woolly tights, chunky knitted jumpers, and boots. I am still loving this pointed pair of patent boots I bought last year, they seem to go with any outfit. My favourite places to shop for winter clothes are probably Topshop, Urban Outfitters and Primark. Mustard and rust are my go-to colours, along with navy and red. I want to start planning outfits already!
Red and orange leaves
The amazing colours you see as the leaves fall is just amazing. I find mid-late October is the optimum time to see the vibrant leaves. Find the nearest arboretum near you, take a camera and head there for a day. Again, it should be a crisp, frosty day for the best photos! The nearest one to me is Westonbirt, so an annual trip is a must.
The thought of Christmas
Dare I mention it?! I promise not to ramble on. But for me, the feeling that Christmas is just around the corner gives each day a little spark of excitement. A time of year for spending days with family and feeling so content. I won’t talk about it anymore as I’m trying to enjoy the September and October before I think about December too much.
What are you looking forward to most this autumn?
