The Autumn Tag 2017

Happy October! There is a nip in the air now, with that lovely feeling that frosty, crisp mornings are just around the corner. I couldn’t resist writing up an Autumn Tag for 2017. I actually did the same thing last year too – can you tell this is my favourite season? These questions came from Room TO Glow’s blog, who offered the questions for anyone to use! Let’s get started…

1. What signifies the start of Autumn for you?

I really notice that Autumn is here in the mornings. Even if the day ends up being warm, those first few hours in the morning are what gives the season away. Cold, slightly darker mornings, with the lightest frosting on the leaves. I just love it. As the weather becomes cold and I notice are starting to colour and fall, Autumn has begun.

2. Best way to spend a rainy day?

Ooh I love this question. My favourite way to spend a rainy days is writing blog posts and wearing pyjamas all day. Eating lots of yummy food (I am loving roasted pumpkin and butternut squash at the moment), playing board games and watching a cosy film. I’d always have a seasonal candle lit too!

I’ve gotten back into reading recently, and suddenly there is nothing better than curling up in a blanket with a good book. I’m currently reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban, which is such a good read for this time of year.

3. Most fond Autumn memory?

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Westonbirt Arbouretum last year, it was such a perfect day. The weather was perfect, and we wrapped up really warm, armed with a very delicious picnic. If you haven’t been to an arbouretum, try and find your nearest one to visit in October sometime. If you catch it at the right time, you’ll be amazed at how bright and beautiful all the trees are! I can’t wait to visit again this year.

4. Favourite fall scent?

My favourite scent for this season has to be the ‘Leaves’ candle from Bath And Body Works. I’ve been burning it non-stop since September, and I just can’t get enough. The best way to describe the scent is a rich and spicy, but still feels fresh. There are hints of cinnamon, cloves, crisp red apple and golden nectar which mix to make the perfect scent for October and November. I bought mine from eBay as it can be really hard to find Bath And Body Works in the UK, but this was completely worth every penny. The best scent throw I’ve ever tried.

5. What are you most excited for this Autumn?

This Autumn, I am most excited to enjoy the little things. I am prone to wishing time away, this time of year is a prime example. I think too much about Christmas and forget to notice how amazing this season really is. I’m trying to live more slowly, rather than missing all the smaller delights. I’m taking time to enjoy the book I’m reading, remebering to light fairy lights and breathe more. I want to make lots of time for crisp, autumnal walks!

6. Favourite Autumn song?

I have been listening to Passenger’s new album, The Boy Who Cried Wolf. If you need to wind down and feel autumnal, it is the perfect album. Lots of lovely songs, but my favourite has to be Simple Song. Please give it a listen if you have the time. Another favourite song for this time of year is Gracious by Ben Howard. All of his music pairs well with cold, frosty weather and crunchy leaves, especially Old Pine.

7. Favourite Autumn movie?

I’ve actually written up a blog post with my Top 5 Autumn Films to watch. I tend to prefer films set in the Autumn, rather than scary Halloween films, although I will give a few horror films ago. The Breakfast Club is another good one for this time of year, quite slow but such a great plot and perfect characters!

8. What TV shows are you looking forward to this fall?

I am SO excited for the second series of Stranger Things. If you haven’t watched the first series, where have you been? It was the best thing I watched last year, without a doubt. I am counting down the days until the new series starts – even the trailer made me feel autumnal, especially with Thriller as the theme song. There’s also been rumours about a Guy Fawkes inspired drama coming to the BBC with Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones, so I’m looking forward to seeing that too.

9. Favourite Autumn colour?

It has to be mustard, without a doubt. I bought a suede biker jacket in the most amazing deep, orange-yellow shade and I have been wearing it all the time. We bought a beautiful mustard and white knitted throw for my boyfriend’s bedroom and it is so snuggly, I’ve been happily cocooned in the throw ever since.

10. Favourite fall fashion trend?

It isn’t really a trend as such, but I just love big, chunky knitted scarves and jumpers! There is nothing better than feeling all cosy and warm, its like having a constant hug. My favourite place to buy seasonal pieces is actually Primark – affordable but they have some really luxe-looking winter clothes this year. Worth a quick look next time you are passing.

11. Your most loved outdoor fall activity?

Very simple, but I think it has to be out walking. Not many things make me happier than a good stomp in the cold, fresh air. It makes it feel even cosier to come home to a good film and a hot chocolate. Usually, I take my camera out with me as walking in the evening often leaves you with the most perfect lighting.

I really enjoyed rambling all about my favourite season, sorry it was a little long!
