If the price tag of Jo Malone candles puts you off slightly, it might be worth popping into your local Aldi shop.
A lot of you probably remember Aldi’s launch of their dupes for the popular Jo Malone candles back in March. The UK went slightly crazy – the limited edition candles were sold out of every store. They were even being sold on eBay for such high prices, that you might as well have bought the real deal!
Aldi have cottoned on to this success, and seem to have made them a part of the permanent collection. I spotted the 3 candles, each with the matching diffusers in store last week, so I finally decided to give one a try.
I picked up the Lime, Basil and Mandarin scent, No.1. This was my favourite scent of the three, but these are such good value for money that I may end up with the whole collection!
Whilst I don’t own the Jo Malone original of this candle, I have smelt it in-store before. The scents are incredibly similar – I don’t think you’d be able to notice much difference at all.
So, the candles are set to have a 45 hour burn time, at 90% less price than their high-end inspiration. To me, this is a no-brainer. I have a habit of avoiding burning luxury candles – because they cost more, I feel guilty about burning them to much. At under £4, you could burn this all day and feel no guilt at all!
Whilst we are on the subject of Aldi candles, I couldn’t resist picking up this tin candle too. ‘Velvet Rose’ isn’t the sort of scent I would reach for – I tend to stay away from floral scents. But this really does smell amazing, as its a silky, musky scent that isn’t too overpowering.
I like how travel-friendly tin candles are. You can just pop the lid on and take them anywhere wihtout having to worry about the glass at all! For only a few pounds, they had a whole autumn collection in this range. If you get the chance, its definitely worth popping in to Aldi to have a look.
(If you’re on the hunt for dupes, my favourite recently has been this Gucci belt dupe!)
