I love switching up the makeup products I use during the changing of the seasons. The recent cool weather and falling leave remind me that Autumn really is here. I’m fully in the seasonal spirit, with an Autumn Tag up on the blog too. Today, I’ve combined six products to put together a quick, easy October face of the day!
I don’t wear makeup every day. But, on the days I have been wearing it, I’ve been wearing more than usual! This time of year, as things get chilly, I quite enjoy wearing slightly heavier makeup. Not too much, just amping up the coverage and reaching for eye shadows more. Anyone else feel like A/W arriving warrants some fuller coverage?
Base and Brows
When it comes to foundation, I have been picking up my Nars Sheer Glow more often. It is a beautiful foundation with a great formula, but I just don’t use it enough. I find that my skin needs to be looking on top form to use this foundation. Otherwise I find it can look more noticeable on any problem areas. This seems to be an uncommon problem, as I know this is so many people’s holy grail foundation! It’s cult beauty status makes it a must-try product, whether it becomes your favourite or not. The coverage is good, and I find that it glows on my skin as time goes on – pairing nicely with the overall makeup look.
Concealer has to be the Bourjois Radiance Reveal. Honestly, I haven’t use a single other concealer since I started using this one. Besides the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, I haven’t been been loyal to one concealer before. I wouldn’t want to be without this one now. The undertone is neutral/yellow, which works to brighten undereyes and conceal at the same time. It applies so smoothly and doesn’t crease. If you try one thing from this selection, make it the Radiance Reveal!
When it comes to brows, the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade is my all-time favourite. I have the colour ‘Medium Brown’ – which is the perfect shade for me, with a cool undertone. I had trouble in the past with brown brow products having more of a red/orange tint, but not anymore! This pot has lasted me such a long time, making it great value for money.
I’ve been back into using eyeshadow! MAC’s ‘Woodwinked’ eyeshadow is one of the best autumn shades you’ll find. I do reach for matte shades more often than not, but if you are looking for a does-it-all, bronze shadow, this might be just what you are looking for. It has an amazing finish – as you blend it into the crease of your eye, the shimmer dissapears slightly, and gives the appearance of multiple eye shadows being used.
When it comes to mascara, it is very unusual for me to stray far from the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. If you’ve read some of my other beauty posts, you’ll know this is a regular staple! It is like false lashes in a bottle. I was actually asked twice this month where I got my lash extensions. I quickly explained that this is my secret! Although, I am toying with the idea of trying lash extensions. Please let me know if you’ve tried lashes before.
It wouldn’t be an autumn face of the day without a berry lipstick! This beautiful lipstick was from the Kiko Autumn Collection a while back, so I’m very sorry to say this it isn’t available anymore. But I couldn’t resist including it, as I’m really fond of this one. It bridges the gap between a pink lipstick and a vampy berry tone – a happy medium. The packaging is just beautiful. Kiko Milano create the best limited edition collections. The one currently in storeslooks fab too.
For those of you who aren’t such big fans of berry shades, I actually have a post for you coming very soon. I’ve chosen three alternative lipsticks for the autumn, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
And that is everything! I sometimes add some brown liner to my waterline for some extra smokiness, or switch up the lipstick for a nude too.
