I thought it would be fun to mix things up a little bit, and think about what my perfect, slow-lived day would look like.
It would most likely be a Sunday – my favourite day of the week as the pace is a little slower and a whole day free to do whatever I’d like. A Sunday in autumn too, my favourite season. Of course, the weather would be crisp, cold and sunny!
I’d wake up early, as I hate feeling like I’ve wasted time lying in bed! Being up and about before everyone else is my favourite. I’d light a candle, and settle down to write some blog posts in my pyjamas. I love feeling like I’ve been productive before 9am.
As this is my perfect day, I’d head out for a run too – in an ideal world, I’d do this every day. Then I’d spend an hour or so taking blog photos (the lighting would be just right – not a very common occurrence in every day life!), creating a stock of images for the week ahead.
There is something so cosy and comforting about going out for a roast on a Sunday. Can you tell food makes me very happy? I would spend some time on my makeup, which I find so relaxing, and then head out! My favourite thing to do is go out for food with my whole family, which means finding a table for 20. I love Sundays to be about seeing family, having fun and laughing. I’d definitely be having a chocolate-melting-in-the-middle pudding. It is my perfect day after all!
I’d want to curl up on the sofa to watch a Sunday-afternoon film. This might be a Harry Potter film, an old black and white one, or an old Disney film! This part would involve me sleeping through half of the film, I love a good nap.
I love going out for a walk on a cold evening, so that things feel really cosy when you return home. This would probably involve collecting conkers and wearing a fluffy bobble hat. I like taking my camera out, to take some photos as the sun sets. We are very lucky to have open fires in our house, so I love sitting next to the fire to warm up!
A good five minutes spent on a relaxing skincare routine, and then an ideal day for me has to include a Lush bath bomb. My current favourite is the Twilight bath bomb – it smells like lavender so feels just right to use in the evening. A new pair of pyjamas would finish off a cosy day perfectly.
Writing this down reminded me just how much of a homely person I am. It probably sounds a little dull for someone’s ‘perfect day’, but that’s just how I like it. Nothing makes me happier than a cosy day, spent in a slow, relaxed way.
How would you describe your perfect day?
