Read a Harry Potter Book
I love snuggling down to read a good book when the weather is cold outside! I’ve been reading the Harry Potter novels because they are just so comforting to me. I loved growing up with the stories and the Prisoner of Askaban is my favourite for this time for year.
If you aren’t a reader, you could try the films instead. Even just chatting about the films now makes me want to start them all over again. I love a story that you can get completely lost in, and Harry Potter is a perfect example of a world you can disappear into.
Watch a scary film
Now, the scariness of the film you watch is all down to how brave you are. In my case, not very. Any films with possessed children or ouijia boards are a no go, that’s for sure! My previous blog post had a mixture of films to watch this time of year. It just seems to go with the dark evenings – get lots of snacks and a nice blanket!
I think my recommendation currently has to be the Stranger Things series. I’ve nearly finished season 2 and it’s getting better and better with each episode! If you need a new show in your life, make it Stranger Things.
Go for a walk in the cold and rain
If you know me, you’ll know how much I love being cosy. Wait till a really cold and rainy evening, pop your wellies and bubble hat on and head out into the nasty weather! Take yourself for a brisk walk, until you are chilly, then head home to warm up.
I feel like being out in the autumn weather makes you appreciate the warmth and coziness of being at home. I like having a bubble bath (complete with a Lush bath bomb!) and putting fresh pyjamas on from the radiator. All the cosy! If you are on the hunt for fluffy pyjamas, get yourself to Primark ASAP – they have so many cute pairs.
Visit the cinema
I love visiting the cinema no matter what time of year it is! But it’s a great option for a date night or girls evening in the Autumn and Winter. I am so very excited for the new Murder on the Orient Express film – with a great plot and an all-star cast, I can’t wait to watch it!
Cinemas can be a little expensive, so keep an eye on apps like VoucherCloud as there are often deals on tickets. My boyfriend often gets cinema tickets bought as presents for him, which is such a lovely treat for us to use! A good Christmas present idea if you are stuck buying for someone.
Go out for hot chocolate
…..or other seasonal drink! Quickly get yourself down to your nearest Costa for a pumpkin spiced latte before they are gone. I’m not a coffee gal – I love a hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream and sprinkles! I feel like hot chocolates are such an autumnal, warming drink that I only really have this time of year. Make the most of hot chocolate season!
Treat yourself to a new scarf
What better time to treat yourself to a soft and snuggly scarf? I’ve seen some amazing ones in H&M, in gorgeous colours too. I usually buy a few cheaper scarves that I can rotate around to match different outfits.
I’ve spotted some great scarves on ASOS, and in stores such as Primark, Topshop and Mango.
Don’t think about Christmas too much
I’m already guilty of thinking about Christmas too much. I think the aim here is just to try to enjoy Autumn for what it is, rather than just thinking all about the festive season. Don’t burn the Christmas candles yet, stick with the autumnal ones. Soft, acoustic music instead of those familiar Christmas songs.
If you can do this, it stops you running out of festive excitement too early! Also, it means that by the time December does roll around, you can go crazy wth excitement!
Bake yourself something
I don’t usually bake very often – I adore cooking (usually pasta!) but cakes and cookies get forgotton about. Apart from this time of year! Last week, I made chocolate chip, chocolate orange cupcakes and they tasted incredible! Are you allowed to say that about your own baking? Possibly not, but they tasted just like chocolate orange. YUM.
Spending a happy afternoon in the kitchen is such a lovely, Sunday-style activity that will get you feeling very autumnal. Use plenty of cinnamon and you’ll be on your way.
Wear that gold eyeshadow / berry lipstick
I own quite a few gold eyeshadows that I just never wear! I’m not sure why really. This crisp, frosty weather with bright sunshine is the perfect excuse to embrace the autumnal makeup trends.
I’m usually a matte-eyeshadow-nude-lips fan, but there always has to be an exception!
What are your favourite ways to enjoy Autumn?
